What Is Malaysia My Second Home?
A Second Home Without Giving Up Your Citizenship
Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) is a long-term residence visa programme introduced by the Malaysian government in 2002 for foreign nationals wishing to live, invest or holiday in Malaysia for extended periods.
Unlike a short-term tourist visa, approval provides a renewable long-term stay of between five and 20 years. Spouses, children, parents and other eligible family members may apply alongside the main applicant.
MM2H holders may enter and leave Malaysia freely, buy a home, enrol children in international schools and access local healthcare — establishing a second home without giving up their original citizenship.
From 2024, the national MM2H programme introduced Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, with higher overall entry requirements. Forest City's Special Financial Zone designation secured a dedicated tier with a lower fixed-deposit threshold and a longer visa period. Compared with the national entry-level Silver tier, its deposit requirement is approximately half as much and its visa period twice as long, making it an accessible route to long-term residence.
